Telstar Scout Group Luxembourg follows the training scheme of the Scout Association. Due to the distances involved the Group inevitably has less contact with the other British Groups in BeLux and BSWE than it would like. There are also other problems: the requirements for the badges are obviously based on British standards and it is sometimes difficult to provide training to a recognised equivalent. In the light of the Lyme Bay disaster and similar accidents the Scout Association has introduced rigorous requirements for those authorised to take Scouts on adventurous activities. It is often a difficult and lengthy process to get qualifications from other European countries recognised. Also courses here will not usually be run in English and the person concerned may not have the necessary linguistic skills to follow the programme. These problems are not insurmountable, however, and the Group is still able to offer a stimulating programme.
